In the Megapixel Race, Lyra Forecasts 75% of Digital Cameras at 8+ Megapixels by 2011
According to Lyra Research, the digital imaging authority, by 2011 more than three-quarters of all digital cameras sold worldwide will have a resolution of at least 8 megapixels. For better or worse, sensor resolution has become the defining specification of a digital camera. It has become clear that market realities are forcing camera manufacturers to continue offering even higher resolutions, despite the fact that nearly every digital camera currently on the market offers adequate resolution for general consumer needs.
